Merit badge counselors are required to have taken BSA Youth Protection Training and complete a merit badge counselor orientation.

The youth protection requirement may be met by taking the online course delivered through the BSA Online Learning Center. The course content is accessed through the MyScouting Portal - if not already registered with the site, you'll need to register an ID when you take the course.

The orientation requirement may be met by attending a scheduled orientation session, or certifying that you have read and understand the document: Introductory Guide for Merit Badge Counselors (email your confirmation that you have completed this to the North Shore District Training Committee ).
