Scoutmaster Fundamentals![]() ![]() Basic Training for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, Troop Committee Members and Adults Supporting the Scouting Program. Webelos II and other Cub leaders making the transition to Boy Scouting are also encouraged to attend this training. "Scoutmaster Fundamentals" consists of two parts. The first is "Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training" (SMLST) and the second is "Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills" (IOLS). Contact: Rich Wahl ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) We typically do these two courses back-to-back because it provides the best overall training experience (this is because of the patrol relationships that are established during SMLST and carry through into IOLS). IOLS is also the follow-on to Varsity Coach Leader Specific Training (VCLST). Participants who complete SMLST and IOLS are considered fully trained for the Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster position, and likewise, Varsity Coaches who complete VCLST and IOLS are considered fully trained for the Varsity Coach/Assistant Coach position.
