Scouting for Food to Restock Pantries in Tough Times

Forget the silly cartoons of Porky Pig in uniform. Central Texas Scouts will make a very real difference by helping ease hunger problems this summer through the Scouting for Food program.
Scouting for Food is a food drive program that the Capital Area Council will sponsor this summer with the support of Randalls, KEYE TV and Subway. Get your unit ready to start spreading the word in late June and put July 25 on your calendar for food collection in your neighborhoods. (If that date doesn’t work for your unit – choose a different one. The food is more important than the calendar.)
Door hangers with the Scouting for Food details –asking neighbors to participate – were handed out in May and will be available at the June and July Roundtables. The program will be supported by promotional messages on KEYE TV and keyetv.com, posters in Austin-area Subway restaurants and with collection barrels at Austin-area Randalls stores.
Get your unit involved and make a real difference for hungry families in Central Texas. Get more details from – and report how much your units collects to – district Scouting for Food Coordinator Diane Bonsall.
